Mold Assessment and Remediation
Plateau has conducted hundreds of mold investigations and remediations. We consider our procedures and investigations to be state of the art. We are not the only ones who think so; ask the thousands of Coloradans that have attended our seminars on Mold and Moisture, including members of the National Homebuilders Association, the National Association of Realtors, the International Code Council of Colorado, as well as regional schools, hospitals and the general public. We have made it our business to know.
Many of the mold problems we investigate involve hidden mold. Mold in crawlspaces, wall cavities, attics and from other sources can be found utilizing a combination of testing, visual inspection, thermal imaging, and good old fashioned detective work.
Is testing necessary?
Well, sometimes yes and
sometimes no. Testing can be expensive, so each
situation is evaluated to determine the necessity of testing. During
the investigation testing may be necessary to find out if contamination
has occurred from a source of mold. This is not always conclusive and
is no substitute for an aggressive investigation. Testing is more
commonly done in association with the mold removal (remediation)
process. The most important use of testing is to ensure that your space
has been properly cleaned. There is a vast difference between a clean
space and a contaminated space that cannot be discerned by the naked
eye.
The types of mold captured during an air test can be very revealing. The genus and spore count may tell us the likely location, cause or source of a mold.
